Taking a break from work to work on something else.

One thing I've learned working in the creative field of photography is that honing the craft opens new worlds of expression. During the Olympic break I got to practice a few other facets of photography that I enjoy. One of them is flower photography. I got to spend some time at Longwood Gardens lunching with my wife, and a trip to the famous Dupont gardens in the Summer always means spending a few, or possibly quite a few, moments gazing at the giant Lilly pads and trying to capture some beautiful images of their eye-popping color and radiant splendor.

I hesitate each time before snapping a flower photo because I am humbled. Knowing that I am responsible for the impression that will live on long after this plant has decayed and returned to the mire from which it came fills me with respect for its creator.

Fleeting moments painted on the canvas of history are the responsibility of the artist.

I paint the present, as it fades into the past, for the future.

April 2017 Desktop Calendar

So yes, I did miss a month, and I apologize, but sometimes life gets in the way. This photo was taken along the river walk in Philadelphia and it is of some Cherry Blossoms. The introduction of Spring feels delayed here in the Northeast this year so hopefully with the flowering of the Cherry Trees, Winter is safely behind us. Get outside and breath in the fresh air! (after taking your allergy medication of choice). Click here for the high resolution image of this desktop, and please share as much as you would like.

A Little Spring Time in Winter

I got to spend a little couples time with my wife this weekend at one of our favorite locations, #Longwood Gardens.  For a photographer it's nature in overdrive.  The #Christmas display was still up but this was the first time this year we got to see it during the day.  The Day Lilies were a welcome sight as the cold weather is finally creeping into the Northeast. #Nature #Flowers #Garden
