Twas the Day Before Christmas

Christmas Eve morning I was driving from service call to service call when I drove past this magnificent structure. The sun was just rising behind Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church and the clouds were glowing with color. I met the priest in the parking lot as I was snapping away. His curiosity was peaked as to what I was doing. I explained about the beauty of the church wrapped in the sun’s glowing arms and we agreed it was an inspiring sight. We bid each other “Merry Christmas” and continued with our busy days. The view was a fitting reminder for Christmas Eve. I trust your holidays are living up to your hopes.

Christmastime

I realize that the holidays mean different things to different people. To some the end of December is the end of just another month. For the ones of us that get giddy around the festivals and traditions, let me say just one thing...live it to the fullest. Capture every moment of joy watching a child’s eyes light up opening a gift. Breath in the fresh smell of holly and cinnamon. Delight in the meal lovingly prepared by your family, and feel the warmth from the fireplace or the hot coco. Let the season engulf you and lift your spirits. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Christmas Lights

Back in 18th century Germany it became popular to decorate Christmas trees. By the early 20th century it was in vogue to illuminate them with electric lights. By the time the sixties rolled around lights were routinely being put up on houses to decorate for the holidays. For whatever reason they came into fashion. I for one hope they stay around. They bring light to the beginning of the bleak Winter season. It makes me smile to see the creativity of decorators. They allow me some special time to spend with my daughter, putting them up and driving around to look at the spectacles. They bring little beams of happiness into December nights. Long live the tradition.
