From the Outside Looking in:
Covering NASCAR events allows me unique views of the action at the track. Being on the outside during the Phoenix weekend allowed me to capture a few things I don't often get to photograph. My favorite was this picture of Joey Logano after he won the Xfinity race on Saturday. He turned his car around after crossing the finish line and erupted his racecar in a rolling burnout that extended along the front stretch. The checkered flag was tossed to him on the way by. The good part for me about being on the outside of the racetrack is that from the inside much of this scene is obscured by the cement retaining wall (the wall that has the Camping World sign on it). Plus it looks pretty cool with the Phoenix International Raceway sign and the mountains in the background.
