Calm Lake at Sunset

Last Saturday evening I was at Marsh Creek State Park just before sunset. The water in the lake has been reduced for ecological reasons and maybe that added to the stillness of the water. It looked like someone had set a huge mirror across the lake, reflecting the deep blue in the sky above. There was so much blue, coming from above and below, it was overwhelming. Capturing it with the camera was a bit tricky, but I tried my best.

Great Valley Patriots vs Bayard Rustin Eagles

The Great Valley Patriots vanquished the Bayard Rustin Eagles last evening at Great Valley High School. In yet another come from behind win the Patriots regained control and clawed their way into the lead as the final quarter began. Final score was 55 to 49. Patriots coach Jim Nolan deserves a big hand for keeping his boys cool under a tough defense mounted by the Eagles.

Frosty Mornings

Here in the Northeast frost is one of those early warning signs of Winter. We have had it for a few months now. Sometimes early October it comes, sometimes not until December. At times it’s like a fresh carpet of stiff icicles coating the ground, giving the encased grass the ability to appear silver or to sparkle in the early sunlight. It morphs into existence as tender flakes of frozen water diligently waiting for resurrection. As the day warms, these tiny water particles loosen their grip and break free from the fauna they cling to, so that they may play their part in the circle of life. So tiny and fragile it changes how the world appears on many a Winter morning.

#TravelTuesday Key West

In the chilling season of Winter I highly recommend a quick trip to someplace warm. Somewhere magically relaxing and peaceful. Somewhere that the day’s objective is to find the perfect Key Lime Martini. Somewhere whose natives are so laid back, fine dining could be had with no shirt and no shoes. If you’ve never been to Key West you’re missing out on one of God’s greatest gifts. The island is bewitching in its beauty, but its charm is in its attitude.

I can try to explain a lazy afternoon spent on the beach, with cool breezes of seventy two degrees drifting across the freshly refilled margarita glass dug in the sand beneath the hammock on which you recline. The noise from the gentle surf calms your nerves and beckons you to release those lingering thoughts. Steel drums play in the distance, and the lime rind you have been fondling in your left hand falls gently to the ground, as the sun falls beneath the horizon.

But I can’t explain it. I can’t give you the experience. Make the time. Go there for yourself, and never want to leave.
