Here's you free downloadable March 2015 desktop calendar. I took thi last year when my wife and I were visiting Longwood Garderns in the Spring. Hopefully this will help you mentally push through the remainder of Winter.
The Daytona 500
This was my first visit to Daytona International Speedway, and shooting the Daytona 500 was a dream come true. So much of NASCAR revolves around the mystique of this racetrack. It marks the beginning of the season as well as the midpoint around the fourth of July. Victory at Daytona (and especially the 500) is a badge drivers wear with pride and distinction. It is a goal that represents courage, wisdom, fortitude, cunning, and teamwork. Hoisting that elusive trophy above one’s head is a dream every racer has fantasized about. Congratulations to Joey Logano who won the race this year and to Ryan Reed who claimed his first victory in the Xfinity series at the same track during the Alert Today Florida 300 the day before.
These are a few of my favorite pictures from the event. I work for Action Sports Photography who hold the copyright on all of these images. Please visit their website for more information and to view more images from Daytona.
NCAA Men’s Basketball: Georgetown at Villanova
It was supposed to be a huge game because Georgetown was one of the two teams that defeated Villanova this season. I have a few personal ties to Villanova I have family who have attended the school and also family members who have coached at the university. The game was hard fought from the Georgetown point of view, but after the first few minutes the Wildcats never looked back. These are a few of my favorite images from the game.
February 2015 calendar download
Welcome to February! Exciting opportunities are beginning soon so I wanted to get this calendar out on the first of the month. This month’s picture is from a recent trip to Riviera Maya in Mexico. I have to say that getting a few days in wonderful southern climate during the bone chilling months of winter can rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit.
In an effort to be more consistent and to fill more pages on this blog I will start posting more of the photography I practice. I love nature and all the beauty in the world around us, but much of my photography also includes sports. This is first and foremost a photography website. I started this venture a few years ago to share my vision through the viewfinder with anyone who wanted to glimpse the world as I see it and capture it. Fortunately, I have be able to move forward with my vision and will continue to share photographs that will become better and better as my skills improve and I hone my craft.
Coyotes at Flyers
In their second and final matchup of the season the Arizona Coyotes visited the Philadelphia Flyers. I try to shoot the warm ups before the game because I can get pictures of the players without their helmets on, and they seem to be a little less focused on keeping an eye on the puck so I can capture some eyes and expressions.
Ray Emery began the game for the Flyers while Steve Mason, still recovering from injury, rested on the bench. The Coyotes scored two goals in the first few minutes of play and that was enough for head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers, Craig Berube, to call Steve Mason into action.
R.J. Umberger tied the game during the second period bringing the Flyers back from their early deficit.
The game was forced into overtime with the score tied at three and then further into a game ending shootout. Wayne Simmons flicked in the final goal claiming a hard fought victory for the Flyers.
Here’s a few of my favorite shots from the game:
